What is spelt?
Spelt is a species of wheat with a nutty flavour, grown for thousands of years and now popular in bread, pasta and crackers. It contains gluten, so it does not suit coeliac disease or a gluten-free diet. EU and UK rules name it among the cereals containing gluten (“wheat, such as spelt and khorasan wheat”), in the US “wheat” covers every species of the genus Triticum, spelt included, and the Gulf list names spelt.
How does Bravoora check for spelt?
Bravoora reads spelt, spelt flour and Dinkel as wheat, so a gluten profile gets the same answer as for wheat itself.
